I saw a bunch of young birds on the way to work this morning, brown, ground runners and somewhat large (maybe 12" high, too small to be turkeys), may have been grouse. About 8 of them together. Unfortunately, my helmet cam only got a very blurry image (I've been thinking about upgrading it to high def) and by the time I got close, they had scurried into the brush.

  • Bob Wittig - Baby turkeys? Although they are usually with their mothers. Maybe pheasants? Probably grouse.
  • John Ridley - One of them, just slightly bigger, reversed and flew off , circling around in a distracting manner. I suspect that was a parent, and it was not big enough to be a turkey and they weren't shaped like pheasant.
